Botafogo reaches verbal agreement with Morocco's Hakim Ziyech

Brazilian club Botafogo has reached a verbal agreement with renowned Moroccan winger Hakim Ziyech, marking one of the standout deals of the current summer transfer window.

Ziyech departed Morocco’s Wydad AC, where he played last season, without making a significant impact at either the domestic or continental level.

According to Brazilian newspaper Ge Globo, negotiations between Botafogo and Ziyech lasted several days before being temporarily paused at the player’s request for more time to consider the offer.

The newspaper added that Ziyech, formerly of Ajax and Chelsea, was initially concerned about the condition of pitches in Brazil, but ultimately decided to accept the new challenge.

Bureaucratic procedures delay the deal

Despite the verbal agreement and Ziyech’s approval, the deal has yet to be finalized due to some bureaucratic procedures.

Ziyech, 33, left Wydad after making 16 appearances, scoring nine goals and providing two assists.
