Roberto Carlos reveals losing 99% of fortune to family, agent issues

Brazilian football legend Roberto Carlos has revealed that he lost the majority of his wealth earned during his playing career due to family issues and mistakes in dealing with his agents. Speaking at a football conference in Portugal focused on players' careers and life after retirement, Carlos explained that these difficulties had a major impact on both his financial and personal life.

In an interview with Portuguese newspaper Record, the former Real Madrid left-back said he lost 99% of his football income as a result of these problems. He added that he was forced to restructure his financial and family situation after a series of mistakes, stressing the importance for young players to learn from his experience and avoid repeating it.

Carlos explained that he faced serious problems with his former agent, in addition to family crises that greatly affected him. He mentioned being shocked one day to receive a set of financial documents he knew nothing about, which caused him to lose control over his finances.

Carlos, a 2002 World Cup winner and three-time UEFA Champions League champion with Real Madrid, expressed regret at falling victim to people who drained his accounts, without giving further details. He advised young players to be cautious in their financial and family dealings to avoid making the same mistakes.
