Spain's national team celebrations after winning the 2026 World Cup took an unexpected turn when goalkeeper David Raya narrowly avoided a mishap after his gold medal became tangled in the goal net following the final against Argentina.

The incident occurred after La Roja defeated Argentina 1-0 in Sunday's match to claim the World Cup title.

During the celebrations, Arsenal goalkeeper Raya climbed onto the goalposts to cut a piece of the net as a souvenir, despite not having played in any matches during the tournament.

As he attempted to climb down, the gold medal he was wearing became caught in the net, with its ribbon wrapping around his neck. This caused a brief moment of confusion before Raya quickly realized the situation, freed himself, and continued celebrating with his teammates.
