Italian court declares historic Brescia football club bankrupt

An Italian court has declared the historic Brescia football club bankrupt. Founded in 1911, Brescia has played a significant role in Italian football history.

The court ruling marks the latest chapter in a crisis that has escalated over the past 18 months.

The troubles began with unpaid wages, eventually leading the club's debts to reach 20 million euros. Restructuring efforts promoted by club owner Massimo Cellino, as well as agreements with creditors, failed to convince the court.

Brescia is closely associated with legendary players, most notably Roberto Baggio, who enjoyed one of the best periods of his career at the club, as well as Andrea Pirlo.
