Sports minister backs Al-Ahli ahead of Auckland clash in Intercontinental Cup

Saudi Minister of Sports Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal has expressed his support for Al-Ahli ahead of their much-anticipated match against New Zealand’s Auckland City, marking the start of the club’s campaign in the 2026 Intercontinental Cup. The game is scheduled for Wednesday evening at Al-Inma Stadium in Jeddah.

Posting on X, the minister said: “Best of luck to our nation’s representative, Al-Ahli, in the Intercontinental Cup for clubs. We have great confidence in your ability to win and wish you all the best, God willing.”

Al-Ahli will kick off their Intercontinental Cup 2026 journey in the first round, facing Auckland City in a match that brings together the champions of Asia and Oceania.

Auckland City will be aiming for an upset against Al-Ahli as they seek to advance to the next round of the Intercontinental Cup.
