Atletico Madrid coach urges fans to stop abusing Alvarez

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone has called on the club's supporters to stop directing "insults or abuse" at Argentine striker Julian Alvarez.

The appeal comes as tensions escalate between Alvarez and the club following his blocked transfer to Barcelona.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano previously reported that Julian Alvarez informed Atletico Madrid’s management he would not attend training sessions in protest at the club’s refusal to allow his move to Barcelona.

Romano added that Alvarez reiterated to the club’s management his desire to join Barcelona before the end of the summer transfer window.
