Early showdown set between Al Ahly and Zamalek in Egyptian Premier League

The Egyptian Pro Clubs Association announced on Wednesday evening the schedule for the first round of matches in the new Egyptian Premier League season, following the completion of the draw.

The draw resulted in an early high-profile encounter between Al Ahly and Zamalek, set for matchday six on Sunday, October 11.

Zamalek claimed the Egyptian league title last season after a fierce contest with Pyramids, who finished second, while Al Ahly took third place.

The Association has set August 21 as the official and final start date for the 2026-2027 Egyptian Premier League season.

The first phase will feature all clubs, after which teams will be split into two groups for the second phase: the championship group with six teams, and a second group of 14 teams, of which four will be relegated to the second division, the Professional League.
