Donis says Saudi team ready for Oman clash at Gulf Cup in Jeddah

Saudi Arabia's national football team coach Donis has confirmed the squad is ready to face Oman tomorrow in the 27th Arabian Gulf Cup, currently underway in Jeddah.

Speaking at a press conference today, Donis said the technical staff is preparing for each match individually and focusing on player recovery after the opening game, as they get set to meet a strong Omani side with highly skilled players.

The coach noted that goalkeeper Nawaf Al-Aqidi has been ruled out due to injury, while Mohammed Al-Qahtani missed training over the past two days because of illness.

Tactical preparations and readiness

Donis added that recent training sessions have emphasized several aspects, including counter-pressing. He said the team delivered a positive performance in their previous match against Kuwait and that the players are working hard to improve gradually and increase their effectiveness in front of goal.

Regarding the Omani team, Donis explained that the opponents possess high quality and play with two strikers. He said the coaching staff has analyzed Oman's style and will make some adjustments based on their tactics, stressing the importance of executing the required approach both defensively and offensively.

Focus on teamwork and support

The Saudi coach underlined the need to maintain hard work, a positive atmosphere, and confidence among the players. He emphasized that the focus remains on the current tournament and on improving performance from match to match, with the aim of winning and qualifying while respecting the Omani team.

On the attacking front, Donis stressed the importance of supporting all players and not blaming any individual for missed chances, noting that efforts continue to develop attacking abilities and raise concentration and effectiveness levels.

For his part, Saudi defender Abdulelah Al-Amri confirmed the players are ready for the match, saying the defensive line works as a unit and the team will follow the coaching staff's instructions to secure victory and claim all three points.
