Neighborhood sports fields in Makkah are seeing growing attendance from young people, having become a favored destination for playing football in a competitive and organized environment. These venues have helped discover numerous athletic talents and foster a culture of sports participation, in line with Saudi Vision 2030’s goals to enhance quality of life and increase physical activity rates.

The expansion of public and private sports facilities across various districts of the holy city has invigorated local sports activity. Modern venues now host tournaments and leagues year-round, encouraging greater participation in football and raising the standard of community sports competitions.

Strengthening sports infrastructure

As part of infrastructure development, the Makkah Municipality has continued to upgrade and equip sports facilities within neighborhoods and public parks. More than 118 sports fields have been prepared, offering spaces for football, volleyball, and tennis, as well as walking tracks, all aimed at promoting sports and improving quality of life.
