CAF to review Infantino proposal to sell 20% stake in World Cup

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has indicated its interest in reviewing a proposal from FIFA President Gianni Infantino to sell a 20% stake in the World Cup.

In a statement, CAF confirmed it had received a proposal from FIFA regarding the "FIFA Forward Enterprise" initiative, adding that it plans to "study and evaluate" the idea.

CAF’s statement reflected a positive stance toward Infantino’s proposal, which has sparked widespread controversy and strong opposition from major European football associations.

The Asian Football Confederation, meanwhile, has rejected FIFA’s approach to launching the FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) initiative.

In a statement on Wednesday, the AFC said it had not been consulted about the project before it was announced.
