Tunisia’s ES Sahel beats Saudi’s Al-Hilal to snatch Arab Championship title

Tunisian side ES Sahel have snatched the 2019 Arab Championship title after beating Saudi Arabia giants Al-Hilal 2-1 in the tournament's final game at at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium – Alain Club on Thursday.

Algerian striker Karim Aribi opened the score to ES Sahel 15 minutesbefore the break to finish the first half with 1-0 win over Al-Hilal.

In the second half of the game, French forward Bafetimbi Gomis netted theequalizer for Al-Hilal from a penalty kick before Tunisian midfielder MohamedAbdallah Methnani score the winner during the injury time to finish the gamewith 2-1 for the North African team.

Al-Hilal reached the tournament's final after beating their fellow country Al-Ahli 3-2 on penalties, while Tunisian side ES Sahel booked their place in the final after beating Sudanese outfit Al Merrikh Omdurman 1-0 in the tournament's semifinals.

The winners of Arab Championship (Zayed Champions Cup) will take home $7.5 as hefty prize money for the annual regional tournament, while the runners-up will earn $4 million.

The Zayed Cup prize money is more lucrative than some famed continental competitions, including the South American Copa Libertadores ($6 million for the winners), the Asian Champions League ($4 million) and the African Champions League ($2.5 million).
