Ben Romdhane: We respect Al-Ittihad’s stars, ready for Asian debut

Tunisian midfielder Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane of Al-Shamal has expressed his excitement ahead of the highly anticipated clash with Al-Ittihad, which marks the Qatari club’s historic debut in the AFC Elite Champions League.

Al-Shamal will host Al-Ittihad at Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor next Monday, in the opening round of the continental tournament’s group stage.

Speaking exclusively to Ajel, Ben Romdhane said: “This match is especially significant as it is Al-Shamal’s first-ever appearance in the AFC Elite Champions League. We are fully prepared to take on this major challenge on our home ground and in front of our fans.”

He added: “We are well aware of the strength of our opponents and the quality of their players. Our focus is entirely on delivering a strong performance that reflects the ambitions of Qatari football. My recent goal-scoring form in the Qatar Cup gives me extra motivation to do my best and help my teammates make a perfect start in the tournament.”

Ben Romdhane joined Al-Shamal from Egyptian club Al-Ahly during the recent summer transfer window.
