Deportivo La Coruña defeat Valencia 3-1 in La Liga clash

Deportivo La Coruña secured a 3-1 victory over visiting Valencia on Sunday in the third round of the Spanish La Liga.

Deportivo took the lead early when Valencia's César Tarrega scored an own goal in the 13th minute. Just four minutes later, Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang doubled the advantage with a quick counter-attack.

Valencia pulled one back through Nigerian forward Umar Sadiq in the 26th minute, but the hosts restored their two-goal lead in the 59th minute when French defender Mouctar Diakhaby inadvertently put the ball into his own net.

The match saw Deportivo's Adrià Altimira sent off in stoppage time after receiving two yellow cards in the same minute.

With this win, Deportivo La Coruña move up to seventh place with five points, continuing their strong return to the Spanish top flight. Valencia, meanwhile, remain in seventeenth place with just one point after a difficult start to the season.
