Real Madrid, RB Leipzig reach verbal agreement for Ivorian winger Yan Diomande

Spanish club Real Madrid and Germany’s RB Leipzig have reached a verbal agreement over the transfer of Ivorian winger Yan Diomande, according to journalist Ben Jacobs. The deal is still subject to approval by Leipzig’s board of directors, which is expected to be given on Wednesday afternoon.

Yan Diomande recently joined Leipzig’s training camp in Austria after recovering from an illness. German broadcaster SKY SPORTS reported that the transfer fee could range between €130 million and €140 million, including incentives.

Final steps before transfer is completed

According to THE ATHLETIC, Real Madrid is close to finalizing an agreement with Leipzig after lengthy negotiations. The outlet added that the player is currently awaiting the German club board’s approval before traveling to Madrid for a medical examination.

Diomande, 19, is under contract with Leipzig until 2030, and the German club had been seeking to extend his deal. The player had previously chosen to join Paris Saint-Germain before changing his preference in favor of Real Madrid.

Yan Diomande joined RB Leipzig last summer from Spanish club Leganés after spending half a season there. The Ivorian winger scored 13 goals and provided 10 assists in 36 Bundesliga matches during his first season in Germany.
