Neom appoints Ahmed Hegazi assistant sporting director after retirement

Neom FC has announced the appointment of its former captain Ahmed Hegazi as assistant sporting director, just two days after he officially retired from football.

In an official statement on social media, the club said Hegazi will work alongside Greek sporting director Kyriakos Dourekas to help select new signings during the current summer transfer window.

Neom FC noted that Hegazi’s appointment is part of its strategy to benefit from his extensive experience, especially after he helped the team earn promotion to the Saudi Pro League in 2025 and led them to an eighth-place finish in the 2026 standings.

The club added: "Ahmed Hegazi’s journey with the club continues, but now off the pitch. After years of dedication, Hegazi begins a new chapter, ending his playing career with Neom and embarking on this new role as assistant sporting director with passion and ambition."

The club also welcomed Hegazi, saying: "Welcome back, Captain Ahmed, to your home. We wish you all the best in your new role."
