Real Madrid thrash Real Sociedad 4-1 to top La Liga

Real Madrid defeated visiting Real Sociedad 4-1 on Wednesday in a rescheduled match from the opening round of the Spanish La Liga.

Kylian Mbappe scored a hat-trick for Real Madrid, netting in the 40th, 60th, and 80th minutes, while Vinicius Junior added another in the 68th. Luka Sucic scored Real Sociedad’s only goal in the 44th minute.

With this result, Real Madrid moved to the top of the league with six points, ahead of Andalusian clubs Sevilla and Real Betis on goal difference. French striker Mbappe also leads the league’s scoring chart with three goals.

Meanwhile, Real Sociedad remain without a point after also losing their opening match to Real Betis 1-0.

The remaining postponed fixtures from the first round will be played on Thursday, with Celta Vigo facing Osasuna and Barcelona taking on Athletic Bilbao.
