Saudi assistant coach Angelinas says team ready for Iraq Gulf Cup clash

Serafim Angelinas, assistant coach of the Saudi national football team, confirmed the squad's readiness to face Iraq on Tuesday in the third and final round of the group stage at the 27th Arabian Gulf Cup, to be held at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Angelinas said the technical staff is preparing the team on all tactical, physical, and mental fronts, emphasizing the importance of focusing on both defense and attack to achieve their objectives.

He noted that Saudi Arabia aims to secure victory and finish top of the group, adding that the coaching staff has thoroughly analyzed Iraq and considered several options to select the best available players for the match.

Angelinas added that the technical staff plans to make some changes to the starting lineup, giving more playing time to several new players, while maintaining the ambition to win and continue the team's positive run in the tournament.

Players highlight readiness and value fan support

For his part, Saudi player Mohammed Abu Al-Shamat affirmed the players' readiness to face Iraq, noting that early qualification has allowed the team to prepare more comfortably for the upcoming match, while maintaining their drive to win every game.

Abu Al-Shamat said the Saudi team has shown clear improvement in its previous two matches and is determined to continue its strong performances and secure a third consecutive victory in front of home fans.

He also praised the strong support from Saudi fans, describing it as a key motivator for the players, and expressed his hope, along with his teammates, to deliver a performance worthy of Saudi football and help the team progress successfully in the tournament.
