Camel owners awarded Crown Prince Camel Festival trophies in Taif

Prince Fahd bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed, Chairman of the Saudi Camel Federation, today presented trophies to the owners of winning camels in the 'Haqayeq' category at the Crown Prince Camel Festival, as well as the festival's Saudi production cups, at Taif's historic camel racetrack.

The eighth edition of the festival is held under the patronage of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman and runs until September 13. Organized by the Saudi Camel Federation, the event offers total prize money exceeding SAR 50 million.

The camel 'Al Zaeem', owned by Mousa Al Mousa, won the 'Qadaan - Open' cup, recording a time of 2:52.705 minutes—the fastest in the 'Haqayeq' finals.

Three trophies went to Emirati camels: 'Fakhr', owned by Hamad Al Amri, won the 'Bakar - Open' cup in 2:57.651 minutes; 'Sorouh', owned by Manaa Al Shamsi, took the 'Bakar - General' cup in 2:57.699 minutes; and 'Jalmood', also owned by Hamad Al Amri, claimed the 'Qadaan - General' cup with a time of 2:57.673 minutes.

In the Saudi production races, 'Waad', owned by Aqab Al Dahasi, won the 'Bakar - General' cup with a time of 2:55.901 minutes, while 'Munadi', owned by Naif Al Sahli, secured the 'Qadaan - General' cup in 3:00.189 minutes.

A total of 33 races were held today, including 21 general races, six open races, and six for the Crown Prince Festival cups, drawing a large crowd. Saudi camels won 17 of the 21 morning races, while Qatari camels took three victories and Emirati camels won once.

The festival features broad participation from camel owners both locally and internationally, aiming to promote camel racing, preserve its heritage, and highlight its cultural and economic significance through diverse activities that support the sustainability and deep-rooted legacy of the sport in the Kingdom.
