Saudi Camel Federation completes Taif track upgrades for 2026 Crown Prince Camel Festival

The Saudi Camel Federation has completed a series of development projects at the Taif camel racing track as part of preparations to host the 2026 Crown Prince Camel Festival, aiming to enhance infrastructure and improve facilities for owners, trainers, and participants.

The upgrades include the construction of an 11-kilometer training track encircling the existing 10-kilometer circuit, linking it to the 6-kilometer track in the southern section. The project also connects the camel owners’ camps in both areas, improving movement and operational efficiency.

Further enhancements involved upgrading the race tracks by supplying and laying over 38,000 cubic meters of soil across the 10, 6, 5, and 2-kilometer tracks, as well as the 6-kilometer southern track, creating optimal conditions for training and competitions.

The federation also built five new starting gates for the 6-kilometer track in the southern area to increase participant capacity and streamline race starts, while boosting safety and operational standards. In addition, plots of land were allocated to camel owners in the new development plan.

Ongoing development at the track

Development work at the Taif track is ongoing, with the main entrance to the eastern track currently being paved and further upgrades underway for the 6-kilometer track. These efforts are part of a comprehensive plan to elevate the venue’s facilities in line with the Crown Prince Camel Festival’s status as one of the largest and most prominent camel racing events locally and internationally.
