Scuffles erupt between Spain and Argentina players after World Cup final

A brief scuffle broke out at the final whistle of the FIFA World Cup final when Argentina midfielder Leandro Paredes pushed Spain's Gavi to the ground, just as Spain's substitutes rushed onto the pitch to celebrate their 1-0 victory on Sunday.

Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni intervened to calm tensions at the end of the heated match.

Midfielder Enzo Fernandez was shown a red card during stoppage time in the second half.

Spain claimed their second FIFA World Cup title after defeating Argentina 1-0 in the final held at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, denying the Albiceleste a chance to retain the trophy.

The only goal of the match came in the 106th minute of extra time, when Ferran Torres finished off a well-worked move to beat Argentina's defense and secure the win for La Roja.

The match ended goalless after regular time, with Spain dominating possession while Argentina struggled in attack. Their task became even harder when Enzo Fernandez was sent off in stoppage time, forcing them to play extra time with ten men.

Extra time saw plenty of drama, including a disallowed goal for Spain by Nico Williams due to a foul. Ferran Torres eventually broke through Argentina's defense to score the decisive goal, giving Spain their second world title after their first in 2010.
