Hamza Abdelkarim leads Barcelona to 5-2 win over Basel ahead of Al-Ahly clash

Spanish side Barcelona claimed a 5-2 friendly victory over Swiss hosts Basel on Sunday as part of their preparations for the new season. Promising Egyptian striker Hamza Abdelkarim found the net again, while new signing Karim Adeyemi scored his first goal for the Catalan club.

Adeyemi opened the scoring in the 34th minute, finishing off a cross from Brazilian forward Raphinha, who played as a false nine. Basel’s Aaron Malouda equalized with a powerful shot just before halftime, capitalizing on a moment of defensive confusion from Barcelona.

Abdelkarim shines, Yamal returns

At the start of the second half, Hamza Abdelkarim came on as a substitute and quickly restored Barcelona’s lead, pouncing on an Adeyemi cross to score in the 49th minute.

Lamine Yamal entered as a substitute around the hour mark, making his return after winning the World Cup with Spain. He added Barcelona’s third from the penalty spot in the 81st minute after Jules Koundé was fouled.

In the closing minutes, Basel reduced the deficit through Kazim Olaigbe’s penalty, before new arrival Jesse Piesseu rounded off the scoring with two quick goals, both assisted by Yamal.

Barcelona set for Al-Ahly showdown

Barcelona will host Egypt’s Al-Ahly next Wednesday at Camp Nou in the Joan Gamper Trophy, as part of the agreement reached during Hamza Abdelkarim’s transfer, and ahead of their La Liga title defense.
