Saudi transport authority announces multiple land routes for Gulf Cup fans traveling to Jeddah

As Jeddah prepares to host the Gulf Cup tournament, Saudi Arabia’s extensive road network—spanning more than 73,000 kilometers—will help fans and visitors arriving by land to attend the event. The network strengthens the Kingdom’s connectivity with neighboring countries and eases movement across land border crossings.

In a statement on its X account, the Transport General Authority said the road system offers several land routes for travelers from Gulf and neighboring countries to Jeddah, passing through various regions and provinces. This highlights the role of the road sector in supporting major sporting events and facilitating visitor movement.

The authority explained that visitors from Oman can reach Jeddah via the Empty Quarter Road, passing through Umm Zamoul, Al Batha, Salwa, Al-Hofuf, Riyadh, and Taif, covering about 2,126 kilometers. The route from the United Arab Emirates is approximately 1,556 kilometers, starting from Al Batha border crossing, then Salwa, Al-Hofuf, Riyadh, and Taif before reaching Jeddah.

According to the statement, the route from Qatar is about 1,440 kilometers, passing through Salwa, Al-Hofuf, Riyadh, and Taif to Jeddah. From Bahrain, the journey is around 1,410 kilometers via the King Fahd Causeway, Al Khobar, Riyadh, and then to Jeddah.

For travelers from Kuwait, three land routes are available: the first is about 1,581 kilometers via Khafji, Nairyah, Riyadh, and Taif to Jeddah; the second is around 1,347 kilometers via Al-Ruqai’i, Hafar Al-Batin, Al-Qassim, and Madinah to Jeddah; and the third is about 1,355 kilometers via Al-Ruqai’i, Hafar Al-Batin, Al-Majma’ah, Makkah, and finally Jeddah.

For those coming from Jordan, the authority noted two routes: the first is about 1,139 kilometers via Halat Ammar, Tabuk, and Madinah to Jeddah; the second is approximately 1,524 kilometers via Al-Haditha, Al-Qurayyat, Hail, and Madinah to Jeddah.

The route from Iraq is about 1,445 kilometers, passing through Jadidat Arar, Arar, Hail, and Madinah to Jeddah. From Yemen, the journey is around 1,252 kilometers via Al-Wadiah, Najran, and Abha before reaching Jeddah.

The Transport General Authority emphasized that the road sector is a key enabler for hosting major events, providing an interconnected network that supports movement between regions and border crossings, serves tourism, sports, and logistics sectors, and enhances the experience for road users.

The authority continues its efforts to organize and oversee the road sector, improve quality and safety standards, strengthen links between cities, provinces, and centers, and facilitate the movement of people and goods across the Kingdom.
