Arsenal claim Community Shield with 3-0 win over Manchester City

Arsenal secured their 18th Community Shield title after sweeping Manchester City 3-0 in Cardiff, marking the Gunners’ first trophy of the new English football season.

The Community Shield is contested annually between the winners of the Premier League and the FA Cup, serving as the official curtain-raiser for the new campaign.

Arsenal needed just 23 seconds to open the scoring, when Italian defender Riccardo Calafiori put the ball past Manchester City for the fastest goal in the Shield since Bobby Owen’s strike for City against West Bromwich Albion in 1968.

Arsenal continued to dominate, with German midfielder Kai Havertz adding a second in the 28th minute, before captain Martin Odegaard extended the lead just three minutes into the second half.

Arsenal maintained control throughout, capitalizing on their organization and attacking prowess, while Manchester City struggled to threaten and missed out on an eighth Shield title.

The match marked Manchester City’s first official appearance under new Italian manager Enzo Maresca, who appeared to need more time to restore the team’s form following the departure of Spanish coach Pep Guardiola.
