Saudi youth handball team secures third win, advances to Asian quarterfinals

Saudi Arabia’s under-20 men’s handball team has secured a place in the quarterfinals of the 19th Asian Championship, currently taking place in China from July 15 to 26, after claiming a third straight group stage victory.

Organizers said the Saudi team defeated Chinese Taipei 46-29 today, extending their winning streak in the tournament.

The Saudi Handball Federation noted that national team player Abdullah Al-Saadoun was named best player of the match for his standout performance.

The federation added that Saudi Arabia will continue its group stage campaign on Monday, facing host nation China at 9:00 a.m. local time, as the team aims to maintain its lead in the group.

Tournament details and qualification system

The championship features 12 Asian teams divided into two groups, with the top four from each group advancing to the quarterfinals. The tournament also offers the top four teams qualification for the 2027 IHF Men’s Junior World Championship.
