Atletico Madrid sign Cristian Romero from Tottenham on long-term deal

Atletico Madrid have finalized the signing of Argentine defender Cristian Romero from English club Tottenham Hotspur, announcing today that the player has joined on a contract running until June 30, 2031.

Romero, 28, arrives at the Spanish side after five seasons with Tottenham, where he made 156 appearances and scored 13 goals.

The Argentine defender has an impressive record with his national team, having won the 2022 FIFA World Cup and finishing as runner-up in the 2026 edition after Argentina lost to Spain in the final.

With his move to Atletico Madrid, Romero embarks on a new chapter following his five-year spell at Tottenham.
