Disciplinary committee fines Al-Taawoun, orders two home games without fans over chants at Al-Hilal match

The Disciplinary and Ethics Committee of the Saudi Football Federation has fined Al-Taawoun 100,000 riyals (SAR) and ordered the club to play two home matches in the Roshn League behind closed doors, following chants and phrases by its supporters during the match against Al-Hilal.

The committee stated that the chants and phrases from Al-Taawoun fans violated the disciplinary and ethics regulations, necessitating the penalties stipulated against the club.

Under the decision, Al-Taawoun will play its next two home games in the Roshn League without spectators and must pay the 100,000 riyal fine.

The ruling relates to the Al-Taawoun vs. Al-Hilal match, during which Al-Hilal player Ruben Neves was targeted with chants and phrases deemed by the Football Federation and the Professional League Association to be contrary to sporting values.

The federation and the league had issued a joint statement condemning the incidents during the match, stressing that exploiting personal tragedies to insult or provoke is unacceptable and goes against the values of Saudi football and sportsmanship.

The statement emphasized that such behavior has no place in Saudi stadiums and called for adherence to sporting conduct and respect for all participants in the game.

The Football Federation confirmed at the time that the relevant committees had documented the incidents and begun taking formal action in accordance with approved regulations, noting that penalties would be announced upon completion of the process, before the Disciplinary and Ethics Committee issued its decision against Al-Taawoun.
