Flick admits defensive lapses in Barcelona win over Levante, hails Adeyemi

Barcelona coach Hansi Flick admitted to defensive lapses during his team's 4-2 victory over Levante in La Liga on Sunday, praising substitute winger Karim Adeyemi for his decisive role in sealing the win in the closing moments.

Speaking to reporters after the match in Valencia, Flick said Barcelona started strongly and went 3-0 up early in the second half. However, Levante mounted a late comeback at home, scoring twice in the final minutes before Adeyemi secured the victory with a superb goal.

Flick: Defense and focus must improve

The German coach stressed the need to learn from such matches, saying: "We have to learn how to survive in these situations and improve. We know we can play better, but it's difficult to be at your best in every game."

He added that there were issues with positioning and passing between the lines, emphasizing the importance of improvement in upcoming matches. Flick noted that the team's strong start was the highlight, despite challenging conditions and a dry pitch.

Special praise for Adeyemi and Levante's effort

Flick praised Karim Adeyemi's performance, saying he was crucial in securing the win when the result was still in doubt. "When Adeyemi is focused, he's incredible, and that's why we signed him. I've known him for years and know his abilities," Flick said.

He also commended Levante, who had won their previous eight home matches, noting that their comeback was not due to Barcelona's complacency but rather the hosts' quick transitions. Flick added that the fourth goal gave Barcelona reassurance.

Forced substitutions and Espart injury

Flick explained that full-back Chavi Espart felt pain before his involvement in Levante's first goal, prompting a quick substitution. He admitted responsibility for delaying changes until after the cooling break.
