Sports analyst Fawaz Al-Sharif said Al-Ahli needed to approach Al-Hilal’s attacking strength differently, noting that if he were the coach, he would have worked to limit the threat by closing down spaces in midfield and on the flanks.

Speaking to Al Arabiya FM, Al-Sharif said: “If I were Al-Ahli’s coach, I would have restricted the full-backs and closed the midfield against Al-Hilal’s attacking power,” adding that dealing with Al-Hilal’s key playmakers should have been a top priority.

Al-Sharif also criticized some of the selections within Al-Ahli, saying certain players seemed to have a personal connection with the coach, and emphasized that every player owes it to the club to give their maximum effort on the pitch.

Al-Hilal secured a convincing 3-0 win over visitors Al-Ahli on Tuesday in the Saudi Pro League, with English striker Ollie Watkins scoring on his debut for the team.
