Arda Güler shines with standout attacking display for Real Madrid against Rayo Vallecano

Arda Güler made a significant impact in just 23 minutes during Real Madrid’s 4-1 victory over Rayo Vallecano in La Liga on Saturday, showcasing his attacking prowess in a short spell.

Real Madrid coach José Mourinho praised Güler, describing him as an outstanding player with great abilities, and said the Turkish international’s introduction made a clear difference to the team’s performance.

According to AS newspaper, Güler created more chances than any other player in the match, registering five chances—including two clear-cut opportunities—and delivered five crosses, outperforming all players from both sides. He also ranked fourth for passes in the final third with 12.

Güler has played a total of 227 minutes this season, averaging just 45.4 minutes per game—roughly one half per match. He started against Espanyol, Real Sociedad, and Real Betis, never exceeding 78 minutes in any game, and came off the bench in other fixtures such as against Málaga and Rayo Vallecano.

Comparison with Lamine Yamal

The newspaper noted that Güler surpasses Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal in chance creation, with 24 chances created compared to Yamal’s 18 so far in the league. Güler also leads in clear-cut chances created, with six to the Barcelona star’s five.

In terms of ball recoveries in the final third, Güler has five, ranking fourth, while Vinícius, Baena, and Romero share the lead with six each.

Güler missed Real Madrid’s Champions League match against Inter Milan due to suspension but was on the bench against Rayo Vallecano before coming on in the second half.
