Al-Hazem defeat Abha 2-1 in Saudi Pro League opener

Al-Hazem secured an important 2-1 win over hosts Abha in their opening match of the Saudi Pro League (Roshn League) on Thursday evening.

Abdulaziz Sulaiman Al-Duwaihi gave Al-Hazem an early lead with a goal in the third minute, before Ahmed Mohammed Al-Shamrani doubled the advantage in the 40th minute, allowing the visitors to end the first half two goals ahead.

Abha pushed to get back into the game after the break, and Mohammed Al-Dosari managed to reduce the deficit with a goal for the home side in the 64th minute. However, Al-Hazem held on to their lead until the final whistle to claim their first three points of the season.

Al-Hazem will next face Al-Diriyah on August 21 in the second round of the league, while Abha travel to play Al-Ahli Saudi on August 22.
