Lens stun PSG to claim first-ever French Super Cup title

Lens were crowned French Super Cup champions for the first time in their history on Sunday evening, after defeating visitors Paris Saint-Germain 1-0.

French striker Florian Thauvin scored the only goal of the match in the 32nd minute, converting a rebound from teammate Matthieu Udol's shot past Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov.

Lens held firm under pressure from PSG despite being reduced to ten men, after Kylian Antonio was sent off in the 37th minute for a dangerous challenge on Paris Saint-Germain's Maghnes Akliouche.

The drama continued in the final quarter, with the referee disallowing a Fabian Ruiz goal for offside in the 76th minute.

In the 87th minute, PSG's Nuno Mendes was shown a straight red card for a reckless tackle, and moments later, a second PSG goal was ruled out due to a foul in the build-up.
