AlUla invites cycling enthusiasts to explore dedicated trails

AlUla has announced its emergence as a leading destination for cycling in the region, leveraging its unique natural landscapes, advanced infrastructure, and rich cultural heritage. The governorate invited cycling enthusiasts to explore its dedicated trails and enjoy a sporting experience in a world-class destination known for its accessibility and diverse mobility options.

The governorate noted that its network of dedicated cycling trails spans 68 kilometers, offering both self-guided and guided tours suitable for all levels—from professionals to families and beginners. This initiative is part of AlUla’s vision to enhance quality of life through active and sustainable modes of transportation.

Sources added that these trails host international events and races, most notably the "AlUla Tour," which passes through several natural and heritage sites and attracts elite professional cyclists from around the world.

Diverse trails and unique experiences

The trails pass by historical landmarks such as Hegra, Saudi Arabia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site, set among dramatic rock formations. The Harra Uwayrid trail offers panoramic views of the valley, while the Oasis Trail provides a tranquil ride through palm groves leading to the Old Town.

Visitors can rent various types of bicycles, including road bikes, gravel bikes, and e-bikes. Community rides and group sessions with experienced local guides are also available, allowing guests to hear stories about AlUla and its history.

AlUla also gives visitors the chance to experience sections of professional race routes and test the same roads used by competing cyclists, with the flexibility to choose trails and speeds according to their ambitions and fitness levels.
