Trump and Infantino booed during World Cup trophy ceremony

Crowds at New York-New Jersey stadium booed as US President Donald Trump and FIFA President Gianni Infantino entered the pitch for the World Cup trophy ceremony.

Infantino announced that Trump would present the trophy to the winners of the final.

Spain claimed their second FIFA World Cup title in 2026 after defeating Argentina 1-0 in the final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, denying the Albiceleste back-to-back championships.

The only goal came in the 106th minute of extra time, when Ferran Torres finished off a well-worked move to break Argentina's resistance and secure the title for La Roja.

The match ended goalless after regular time, with Spain dominating possession while Argentina struggled in attack. Argentina's task became harder when midfielder Enzo Fernandez was sent off in stoppage time, forcing them to play extra time with ten men.

Extra time was dramatic, with a Spanish goal by Nico Williams disallowed for a foul before Ferran Torres finally broke through, sealing Spain's second World Cup after their first in 2010.
