Roshn Saudi League referees conclude Spain training camp ahead of new season

Referees for the Roshn Saudi Pro League concluded their overseas training camp in Vitoria, Spain, on Saturday. The camp, held from August 1 to 8, was part of preparations for the 2026-2027 football season.

A total of 43 referees participated, including 14 main referees and 29 assistant referees. The group underwent an intensive training program combining theoretical lectures and practical exercises, aimed at enhancing both technical and physical readiness ahead of the new season.

The training covered a range of refereeing topics, with a focus on recent amendments to the Laws of the Game, training on Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology, handling handball incidents, tactical fouls, positioning, reading the game, and match management.

Referees were also tested on their English language skills and knowledge of the game’s laws, as part of the program designed to boost preparedness for the upcoming season.

The camp featured morning and evening training sessions. Morning sessions included fitness drills and theoretical lectures delivered by several international instructors from FIFA.

Lectures addressed the latest changes to the Laws of the Game, reviewed key refereeing incidents from last season, and discussed preparations for the new campaign.

Evening sessions focused on practical training for various refereeing scenarios on the pitch, along with hands-on exercises using VAR technology.
