Saudi Arabia seek Gulf Cup semifinal spot against Oman

Saudi Arabia will look to book their place in the semifinals of the 27th Arabian Gulf Cup when they take on Oman on Saturday in the second round of Group A matches at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah.

The Saudi team lead the group with three points after a 1-0 victory over Kuwait in their opening match, while Oman have one point following a 1-1 draw with Iraq.

Saudi Arabia are targeting a second consecutive win to raise their tally to six points, which would guarantee a spot in the semifinals ahead of their final group game against Iraq.

The Green Falcons made a strong start to the tournament, securing all three points in their first match despite missing several chances, and benefitted from strong home support.

Oman, meanwhile, are seeking their first win of the competition to boost their qualification hopes after settling for a point against Iraq in their opener.

Oman fell behind to an early goal against Iraq but managed to fight back and earn a draw, keeping their hopes of reaching the semifinals alive.

A draw against Saudi Arabia would keep Oman in contention ahead of the final round, while Saudi Arabia are eager to capitalize on their group lead and secure early qualification.
