Preparations complete for 27th Arabian Gulf Cup in Jeddah with eight teams

The organizing committee has announced that preparations are complete for the 27th Arabian Gulf Cup football tournament, known as 'Khaleeji Al-Diyar Al-Arabia 27', which will be hosted in Jeddah from September 23 to October 6, 2026. Eight national teams will compete in 15 matches during the event.

The announcement came during the tournament's official press conference, attended by Jassim Al-Rumaihi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Football Federation, and Majed Al-Sahib, Acting Secretary-General of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation. The officials reviewed the latest organizational and logistical arrangements, as well as the readiness of stadiums and services provided for teams, fans, and media representatives.

Al-Rumaihi stated that the Gulf Football Federation is working to facilitate the acquisition of broadcasting rights for Gulf channels, noting that the financial terms remain unchanged from the previous edition in Kuwait. He added that discussions are ongoing with interested broadcasters. Al-Rumaihi also clarified that while inviting teams from outside the Gulf is being implemented in youth tournaments, the Arabian Gulf Cup will retain its unique identity.

The press conference also addressed the tournament's timing amid a crowded international calendar, as well as the hosting file for the next edition, 'Khaleeji 28'. Al-Rumaihi confirmed that the Gulf Federation's executive committee will review this matter at a later date.

Comprehensive organizational efforts and preparations to welcome fans

For his part, Majed Al-Sahib confirmed that all organizational and logistical preparations for the tournament are complete. He highlighted the cooperation between the Saudi and Gulf football federations, the local organizing committee, and government agencies to deliver a seamless experience for teams and fans.

Al-Sahib added that 600 media representatives have been accredited for the tournament, while the delegations of participating teams will include around 480 members, including players, technical, and administrative staff. He emphasized the focus on empowering national talents and volunteers in the organization, and leveraging the tournament to enhance expertise in hosting major sporting events.

Al-Sahib also affirmed Jeddah's readiness to welcome Gulf fans, praising the city's wealth of historical, touristic, and cultural sites that will enrich visitors' experiences. He noted that the tournament atmosphere will extend throughout the city, not just within the stadiums.

Tournament details and group draw

'Khaleeji Al-Diyar Al-Arabia 27' will kick off with an opening match between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium. Tournament matches will be held at both King Abdullah Sports City and Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Sports City stadiums, marking the first time Jeddah has hosted the Arabian Gulf Cup.
