Camel market value hits 492 million riyals at Crown Prince Festival finale in Taif

A total of 114 camels will compete on Thursday in the four final rounds of the 2026 Crown Prince Camel Festival at the historic Taif track, with their estimated market value ranging between 270 million and 492 million riyals, according to camel racing experts. This reflects the significant investment value of the camels vying for the 'Sword and Rifle' prizes.

The entries are divided as follows: 35 camels in the first round, 13 in the second, 46 in the third, and 20 in the fourth, featuring elite camels from Saudi Arabia and the Gulf region.

Abdullah Al-Sharif, a camel owner and racing specialist, explained that the market value of a single camel in the 'Heil' rounds ranges from 3 to 6 million riyals, while in the 'Zamoul' rounds it is between 1.5 and 2 million riyals. He added that some camels are valued at over 7 or 8 million riyals, depending on their records, results, and lineage.

Al-Sharif noted that reaching the final symbol rounds increases a camel's market value, highlighting that previous achievements, production value, and pedigree are among the main factors influencing prices, in addition to the level of competition and prize money on offer.

Eighth edition concludes with major cash prizes

The eighth edition of the Crown Prince Camel Festival concludes on Thursday under the patronage of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, organized by the Saudi Camel Federation, with total prize money exceeding 50 million riyals.
