First phase of AFC Asian Cup 2027 volunteer interviews begins in Khobar

The first phase of in-person interviews for applicants to the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027 Volunteer Program has begun in Khobar, as part of ongoing preparations for the Kingdom’s hosting of the tournament from January 7 to February 5, 2027.

The program has seen strong interest since registration opened, attracting over 30,000 applications. Registration remains open until August 31.

The first phase includes more than 3,000 interviews in Khobar over 10 days, as part of a two-month program that will later see over 5,000 interviews in Riyadh and more than 3,000 in Jeddah, ahead of selecting volunteers and assigning them to 20 different work streams.

Following the interviews, specialized field training programs will be held, covering operational, media, and organizational roles, to prepare volunteers for their duties during the tournament. These training sessions are scheduled to begin in November.

The volunteer program is a key pillar in organizing the tournament, supporting operational and organizational aspects, and helping deliver a comprehensive experience for teams, fans, and media. It also allows volunteers to log their hours through the National Volunteer Work Platform.

The AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027 will feature 24 teams competing in 51 matches across eight stadiums in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Khobar, marking the Kingdom’s first time hosting the continental tournament.
