Only Al-Ruzairaa list accepted as Saudi football election candidates announced

The election committee of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation has announced the preliminary lists of candidates for the presidency and board membership for its sixth term, following the completion of the review and audit of all submitted electoral lists.

The committee stated that the nomination period, which ran from July 22 to August 1, saw seven candidates submit their electoral lists. However, one candidate later withdrew, leaving a total of six lists submitted.

From August 2 to 7, the committee examined the files of the candidates and electoral lists to verify their compliance with the requirements set out in the Saudi Football Federation election regulations.

The review found that only the Al-Ruzairaa list met all the candidacy requirements, while the other five lists did not fulfill the conditions stipulated in the regulations.

The committee's procedures followed the election timetable announced on July 16, 2026, and were based on its responsibilities defined in the election regulations, including the approval of preliminary and final lists after reviewing candidate files and confirming their eligibility, as well as excluding those who do not meet the requirements.

The committee confirmed that the announcement of the preliminary lists comes after completing the review and audit of the six submitted electoral lists.
