Inter Miami fall to Toronto despite Messi goal, extend winless streak

Inter Miami suffered a tough 2-1 home defeat to Toronto in Major League Soccer, with Argentine star Lionel Messi leading the team and scoring their only goal.

This marks Inter Miami’s fourth consecutive match without a win, leaving them in second place in the Eastern Conference. Their last victory came on July 22, when they beat Chicago Fire 3-2.

According to Asharq Sports, Inter Miami remain on 39 points from 21 matches, trailing leaders Nashville by ten points.

Messi netted Inter Miami’s sole goal, while Derrick Etienne and another Toronto player scored for Toronto. The win was Toronto’s first away victory in their last nine matches, and only their second on the road this season.

With this result, Toronto move up to tenth place in the Eastern Conference with 24 points.
