Faiq Bolkiah, captain of the Brunei national football team, is currently without a club after his contract with Thailand’s Ratchaburi expired. The 28-year-old is now searching for the next step in his career, despite being linked to a fortune estimated at €18.698 billion, according to various reports.

Bolkiah’s wealth comes from his family background rather than his football career. He is the son of Prince Jefri Bolkiah and nephew of the Sultan of Brunei, which has led to his widespread reputation as the world’s richest footballer.

Born on May 9, 1998, in Los Angeles, Bolkiah holds both Bruneian and American citizenship. He was educated and developed as a footballer in the United Kingdom, starting his career in the academies of several well-known English clubs, including Southampton, Chelsea, and Leicester City.

Bolkiah later pursued professional opportunities outside England, playing for clubs in Portugal and Thailand. His most recent stint was with Ratchaburi, but following the end of his contract, he is now a free agent.
