Saudi coasts enhance biodiversity with planting 14m mangrove trees by yearend

The National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification; celebrated the 2021 International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem; annually marked on July 26. This is by announcing the successful planting of more than 14 million mangrove trees across the Red Sea and Arabia Gulf coasts.

The center also stressed that mangrove forests receive interest and priority; as part of projects implemented by the center and the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture; for their importance in enhancing the ecosystem of the Saudi coastal areas.

The center also referred to its success till the end of the year in planting 14.6 million mangrove trees; on the Saudi coasts of the Red Sea and Arabian Gulf. This also comes as part of several projects to plant and forest coastal environments in Saudi Arabia; with the aim of developing the vegetation cover and realizing environment sustainability.
