Saudi road network key to strengthening medicine supply, says authority

The General Authority for Roads has emphasized the crucial role of the Kingdom’s road network in supporting the healthcare sector and enabling pharmaceutical supply chains, through its integration with relevant health entities, including NUPCO. The authority noted that this collaboration underscores the impact of the road network in accelerating the delivery of medicines and medical supplies across Saudi Arabia, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance infrastructure efficiency and support logistics services.

The authority pointed out that Saudi Arabia’s top global ranking for road network connectivity has helped reduce medicine transport times and link cities and regions with a highly efficient transport system. This, it said, boosts the speed of treatment delivery to patients and increases the reliability of health supply chains.

NUPCO, for its part, confirmed that the Kingdom’s advanced road network has improved the efficiency of its logistics operations and expedited the delivery of medicines and medical supplies to healthcare facilities nationwide, ensuring the continuity of pharmaceutical supply and meeting health needs in a timely manner.

The company added that the quality of the road network and its high standards for safety and infrastructure have helped protect sensitive pharmaceutical shipments during transport, minimizing the impact of rough terrain and vibrations. This, it said, supports the delivery of high-quality pharmaceutical products and strengthens medicine security in the Kingdom.

This cooperation, the statement added, highlights the strategic impact of the road sector in supporting healthcare and enhancing the efficiency of pharmaceutical supply chains, contributing to improved quality of life and achieving the goals of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy and Saudi Vision 2030.
