Jeddah governor inspects school readiness for new academic year

Jeddah Governor Saud bin Abdullah bin Jalawi on Sunday inspected the readiness of schools under the General Administration of Education in the governorate ahead of the start of the 1448 academic year. The field visit was attended by Manal bint Mubarak Al-Lahebi, Director General of Education in Jeddah, along with several education officials.

During his tour, the governor visited a school built to modern standards, where he checked classrooms, educational and support facilities, maintenance and renovation works, as well as technological equipment, safety and security requirements, and operational services, to ensure a well-prepared environment for students and staff.

Jalawi also viewed a presentation highlighting key initiatives implemented as part of preparations for the school year, efforts to raise educational and operational readiness, and plans to ensure a smooth start to classes from day one.

The governor reviewed a report on Jeddah’s education sector, which includes 2,862 public, private, international, and foreign schools serving around 700,000 students. The report noted the completion of 27 new schools in partnership with the private sector, five early childhood projects, and eight schools under the 'Aseel' model, in addition to 30 schools under construction within housing developments.

Facility upgrades and enhanced readiness

The report detailed the readiness of buildings and facilities, ongoing maintenance and renovation, operational services, and coordination mechanisms among departments to address on-the-ground needs. These efforts are part of expanding educational infrastructure to meet population growth and the needs of new residential communities.

The governor’s visit is part of ongoing efforts to monitor preparations for the academic year and to ensure a safe and motivating learning environment for a successful school start.
