Turkish analyst: Strategic committee meeting moves Mecca Pact to implementation phase

Turkish political analyst Oktay Yilmaz praised the meeting of the Political and Defense Strategic Committee for the Mecca Joint Defense Pact.

In an interview with Al Ekhbariya TV, he said the meeting signaled a move to the implementation and institutional phase. He noted that it was agreed to establish a General Secretariat in Riyadh to translate the decisions of the Supreme Strategic Political and Security Committee into action, and that efforts would be intensified for joint training.

Yilmaz also confirmed that the parties agreed on joint military manufacturing and on unifying capabilities and enhancing political and security coordination, marking the launch of a regional security institution aimed at achieving stability.

The Political and Defense Strategic Committee for the Mecca Joint Defense Pact announced a joint statement following a meeting of the foreign and defense ministers and military chiefs from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan in Istanbul on August 31, 2026.

The statement affirmed the three countries' commitment to joint action for peace and stability in the region, supporting de-escalation efforts and peaceful solutions to crises, in line with their regional responsibilities.

The participating countries also agreed to take further steps to institutionalize cooperation under the Mecca Pact, strengthening collective solidarity and supporting the credibility and effectiveness of joint deterrence and defense, and contributing to a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace in the region.
