Autumn equinox to begin next Wednesday, says weather researcher

Weather and climate researcher Abdulaziz Al-Hussaini has announced that next Wednesday, September 23, marks the start of the autumn equinox north of the equator.

In a post on X, he explained that the sun will be directly overhead at the equator, resulting in equal day and night lengths. He added that the autumn season will last astronomically for 89 days and 20 hours, ending with the winter solstice on December 21.

Al-Hussaini noted that during autumn, the likelihood of rainfall increases and temperatures begin to drop, with the season including Al-Wasm, considered the most pleasant days of the year.
