Bahrain strongly condemns repeated attacks on Saudi oil facilities

Bahrain’s Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned the repeated terrorist attempts to target oil facilities in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province, carried out by Iran-backed militias using drones launched once again from Iraqi territory. The ministry described these acts as a dangerous escalation threatening regional security and stability, a blatant violation of good neighborly principles and international law, a clear challenge to UN Security Council Resolution 2817, and an undermining of efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region.

The ministry affirmed Bahrain’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its unwavering support for all measures taken to protect its sovereignty, security, and stability, including its right to respond to sources of aggression and deter attackers, in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter, international law, and the GCC Joint Defense Agreement. Bahrain also pledged to stand by Saudi Arabia in any response it deems necessary, emphasizing the deep historical ties between the two nations and their peoples, and reiterating that Saudi Arabia’s security and stability are integral to Bahrain’s national security and the collective security of GCC states.

The ministry also praised the high efficiency and vigilance of Saudi air defenses in intercepting and destroying the drones before they reached their targets, which helped protect civilians and safeguard vital facilities.

The ministry reiterated the GCC’s call for swift implementation of the Iraqi government’s decision to restrict weapons to state control, stressing the importance of the Iraqi government taking all necessary measures to prevent armed militias from using Iraqi territory as a launchpad for attacks on neighboring countries. It also urged Iran to cease its support for these militias and immediately end its hostile policies.

Bahrain renewed its call for the international community, especially the United Nations Security Council, to fulfill its responsibilities by issuing an urgent resolution condemning the unjustified terrorist attacks by Iran and its proxies against regional states and their peaceful populations. The ministry called for an immediate and complete halt to these attacks, respect for state sovereignty and good neighborly relations, and the safeguarding of maritime navigation, energy supplies, and global trade. It also called for Iran to be held fully legally and financially accountable under international law, Security Council Resolution 2817, and Human Rights Council Resolution 1/61, to help strengthen regional and international peace and security.
