Over 18,000 amphetamine pills seized at Dammam’s King Fahd Airport

Saudi customs officers at King Fahd International Airport in Dammam have thwarted an attempt to smuggle 18,549 amphetamine pills, which were discovered hidden inside a parcel arriving in the Kingdom via the airport.

Spokesman for the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, Hamoud Al-Harbi, explained that the parcel arrived at King Fahd International Airport and, during customs procedures and security screening using advanced technology and sniffer dogs, the pills were found concealed within the package.

Al-Harbi added that after the seizure, coordination took place with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control to ensure the arrest of those expecting to receive the shipment inside the Kingdom. Four individuals were subsequently apprehended.

The spokesman affirmed that the Authority continues to tighten customs controls at all Saudi entry and exit points, remaining vigilant against smuggling attempts as part of its strategy to enhance security and protect society. This is achieved by limiting the trafficking of such substances and other prohibited items, in cooperation with partners including the Ministry of Interior and the General Directorate of Narcotics Control.

Reports related to smuggling crimes and customs violations are handled confidentially, and informants may receive a financial reward if their information proves accurate.
