Umm Al-Qura University launches 26th King Salman Chair publication

Umm Al-Qura University President Dr. Moaddi bin Mohammed Al-Madhhab has launched the 26th research publication of the King Salman bin Abdulaziz Chair for Makkah History Studies, titled "Abdulmuttalib bin Hashim and His Historical Role in Makkah (480–578 CE)," authored by researcher Hanouf bint Saud Al-Qurashi.

The book highlights the life of Abdulmuttalib bin Hashim Al-Qurashi, the grandfather of the Prophet Mohammed, and examines his political and cultural influence in Makkah. It explores his upbringing in a prominent family, his status among his people, and his relationships with Arab leaders of the era.

The publication details Abdulmuttalib's stance during the campaign of Abraha Al-Habashi against Makkah, his service to pilgrims, and his responsibilities for providing food and water, as well as his most notable achievements and initiatives—foremost among them, the re-excavation of the Zamzam Well, which left a lasting legacy for centuries.

The book also discusses Abdulmuttalib's commercial activities, wealth, interest in poetry and oratory, and his impact on the social and cultural life of Makkah during that period.
