Internet use now daily habit for 61% of Saudis, academic says

Majid bin Hamdan Al-Sulami, professor of computer science at Shaqra University, said that internet use has become a daily habit for 61% of people in Saudi society.

Speaking in an interview on Al Arabiya FM, Al-Sulami added that the internet is now an integral part of daily life in the Kingdom, which has seen increased usage thanks to strong infrastructure and available resources.

He noted that the value and impact of daily internet use in Saudi Arabia is significant, especially with the growing use of artificial intelligence tools for research, idea generation, education, and business tasks.

Al-Sulami emphasized the need to further promote awareness about artificial intelligence and its role in improving both daily life and professional activities, stressing the importance of studying its economic impact on the national economy.

He added that there is strong momentum toward adopting AI tools, with significant efforts by government agencies to develop resources and establish AI centers.

According to a report by the Communications, Space and Technology Commission, about 45.2% of internet users in the Kingdom have adopted AI tools. The Saudi Internet 2025 report also found that internet penetration has reached approximately 99.6%, highlighting trends in digital application and service usage across the Kingdom.
